Blog post 5

Thesis: The breed specific legislation on dogs in certain states are ineffective, because the breed of a dog does not determine their behavior and temperament. (Top dog banned in the US is "Pit bull" or any dog with the appearance of a Pit.)

Topic 1: Demonized dogs throughout time

  • Bloodhounds (Latter 19th century)
  • Malamutes/Huskies
  • German Shepherd (until "Rin Tin Tin")
  • Dobermans/Rottweilers
  • Pit Bulls (rise of dog fighting in the 60's)

Topic 2: History of Pit Bulls

  • Nanny dogs
  • Hunting dogs
  • America's sweetheart
  • Fighters
  • Facts and myths
  • Professional view on Pits

Topic 3: Other dogs with BSL
  • Rottweilers
  • Dogo Argentino
  • Mastiff breeds
  • Wolf hybrids

Topic 4: Cities that have BSL
  • 42 states with cities that have BSL
  • Why they have restrictions
  • How much it costs
  • Why it doesn't work

Topic 5: Professional opinions on BSL

Conclusion: The breed of a dog is not what causes an irate temperament in some dogs, it is the owner who is responsible for their dog's temper.

Blog Post 4

This paper will examine the difference between Japanese cartoons and American cartoons. It will highlight children's cartoons and adult cartoons in America and in Japan. I chose this topic because I am a big fan of Anime and I believe that the differences between the two kinds of animation are astounding.
